Colours of Buderim
From Bribie to Noosa and Kings Beach to Maleny, there would be few places on the Sunshine Coast where my family hasn’t headed for our holidays over forty years. We’ve basked on Bribie and baked in 40 degrees at Rainbow Beach, enjoyed staying with relatives on a pineapple farm, chilled at Coolum and always return to Bribie when we return after travelling from the other side of the world.
My musings for my Colours of Buderim show have not been about photographic representation but rather to focus on things taken for granted or which may go unnoticed when busy soaking up the sun or being lulled into reverie by the pervasive sound of the ocean…..it’s the children with all their idiosyncratic differences and their mesmerised awe at the smallest things!
And my newly arrived granddaughter has already been exerting her influences- evident in my use of a delicate pastel palette of pinks ,blues, greens and more in quite a few works. The Elusive Butterfly aptly describes my feelings. The thing is I have yet to meet her; she’s in New Zealand and thanks to Cyclone Gabrielle and an earthquake I now have to wait until March! Thus the inspiration for the Elusive Butterfly theme!
