Profile - Peter Hudson
Since the late 90s most of my paintings and drawings have been about the land and systems of the land. The history of evolution, astronomy, astrology and mythology, the magic of fossils, the science of palaeontology and the moon continue to be favourite subject matter. Creatures that can fly, or live life underwater, animals with the ability to migrate the earth and its oceans skilfully navigating phenomenal distances are inspirational.
In 1998 I made the first of many trips to the Aboriginal communities of Daguragu and Kalkarinji in the Northern Territory. This is Gurindji country. The Gurindji people, their land and their historic Wave Hill Walk Off story have been and continue to be a large part of my work. Involvement and research with the Gurindji has thankfully steered me towards portraiture.
